All note and controller data can be recorded and edited on the timeline as easily as audio tracks. Use track envelopes to automate and modify modulation, expression, or other types of MIDI controller data over time. Other features let you record multiple tracks of MIDI, apply real time MIDI quantization, perform filtering and processing, create and edit drum patterns, and step record. ACID Pro 7 also includes over 1,000 free MIDI files for music creation.

Superior Mixing and Editing
ACID Pro 7 software has a dedicated mixing console for a flexible and efficient recording environment. Specify routing, assign audio effects, and use external effects processors with tracks and busses. ACID Pro 7 software also supports control surface automation and channel tracking for devices such as the Mackie Control and Frontier Design TranzPort. Its unique Beatmapper tool makes remixing easy, and the Chopper tool helps you create impressive drum fills, stutters, and DJ-style effects.

Professional Effects and Soft Synth Support
Expand your sound palette with native support for VST instruments, as well as VST and DirectX audio plug-ins. Create resonant sweeps, dramatic fades, EQ changes and add effects with parameter automation. ReWire and ASIO support help you smoothly integrate ACID Pro 7 software with your existing studio.

Exclusive Quantization Tools
Transform loops and MIDI tracks into fresh sounds with the exclusive Groove Mapping and Groove Cloning quantization tools. Change the groove of a track, apply different grooves to the same track, extract a groove from one file and apply it to another, or even create custom grooves.

Professional Workflow Features
Maximize efficiency with folder tracks and cluster editing to drag, pitch-shift, cut, copy, and paste sections of loops. Use the Clip Pool to choose and arrange events to use in your compositions. Create dramatic or subtle tempo changes using tempo curves. Deliver projects in nearly any format without leaving the ACID Pro 7 environment. Import and Export Support

Interactive Tutorials
ACID Pro 7 software now includes built-in interactive tutorials for step-by-step help. Work along with the tutorials from within your project so you can learn and create at the same time.

Included With ACID Pro 7 Software

Free Loops and Samples
Add to your content library with ACIDplanet.com 8packs. Available as a free download each week, an 8pack is eight loops arranged into a song. ACID Pro registered users can also download free exclusive content using Get Media. Click Get Media on the ACID Pro 7 toolbar for instant access to folders full of royalty-free loops.

Mixing and Editing Features
The professional recording features in ACID Pro 7 digital audio workstation software make efficient work of even the most complex audio productions. Simultaneously record multiple tracks of audio and MIDI, punch in and out on the fly, and audition effects with your signal before recording. ACID Pro 7 software increases playback performance on multiprocessor or multicore computers by creating a separate thread for each processor.

Multitrack Recording: Audio and MIDI
Simultaneously record multiple tracks of audio and MIDI into the ACID Pro 7 timeline through a variety of methods, including step recording, punch-in/out, continuous looping, and more. Arm multiple audio tracks, record alternate takes as clips, and select the one that sounds best to use in your composition.

Audio and MIDI Mixing Console
The mixing console provides an integrated view of all tracks and busses in an ACID project with the appearance of a traditional hardware-based mixer. The look can be customized to provide you with the best view of even the most complex session. The Audio and MIDI mixing console also has additional routing options, allowing for a more flexible and efficient in studio recording environment.

Input Busses
Use the input busses to record from external devices with effects, mix external audio sources with projects, use external effects processors with tracks and busses, and for real time input monitoring. Input busses help you gain greater control in routing of input signals, resulting in more customization and mixing options.

Real-Time Rendering
Real-time rendering allows users to include the output from an external input source with a project. Users can include the audio routed to external hardware including effects units and drum machines with their project, resulting in additional options for mixing and effects possibilities during a session.

Audio, MIDI, and Bus Track Meters
Quickly view and tweak audio and MIDI mix levels in real time using per-track metering. Metering at the track level is ideal for more precise mixing, so you get better sounding mixes with increased accuracy. These meters can be customized, including position, scale, and horizontal or vertical meter options.

External Control Surface Channel Tracking
When a control surface is enabled, ACID Pro 7 software now displays an indicator in the Mixing Console track list to show which channels are under external control. This feature makes it easier to stay organized when working with numerous tracks.

5.1 Surround Mixing
Set up and mix 5.1 channel surround project files for audio and DVD productions. Use the surround panner for precise control over channel positions so you can optimize your projects for theater-style speaker placement and playback. Automate your 5.1 mix on the timeline using keyframes.

Tempo Curves
Set different tempos between two tempo markers for gradual transitions from one tempo to another over the duration of an ACID Pro project. Fade types include Linear, Fast, Slow, Smooth, Sharp, and Hold. Tempo Curves are an efficient way to create dramatic or subtle tempo changes in ACID Pro projects.

Metronome Countoff
The ACID Pro 7 metronome will now count off a determined number of bars prior to recording or playback, for greater timing and accuracy when recording a performance. Easily select the number of bars, and choose metronome sounds from a variety of wood blocks, drums, sticks, and more.

Film-Style Surround Panner
Film-style surround panning allows you to pan between pairs of adjacent speakers using a constant power model, and is optimized for theater-style speaker placement.

MIDI Features
ACID Pro 7 software is a full-fledged MIDI recording, editing, and sequencing environment. Increase your productivity and musical flexibility with easy-to-see inline note editing. Other MIDI features include MIDI track envelopes and keyframes, drum grid editing mode with drum key maps, MIDI filtering and processing, and MIDI file export.

Inline MIDI Editing
Manipulate MIDI data directly on the ACID timeline with a piano roll or a drum grid interface. Edit all note position, velocity, pitch bend, and controller information in the main multitrack interface.

MIDI Track Envelopes and Keyframes
Use track envelopes and keyframes to implement continuous controller and program changes. ACID Pro 7 software has an intuitive interface so you can efficiently modify pitch, modulation, expression, or change MIDI controller data, including project-wide changes.

MIDI Filtering and Processing
Process MIDI data directly on the ACID Pro 7 timeline, including quantization, editing of velocity values, event duration changes, and more.

MIDI Track Freeze
In ACID Pro 7 digital audio workstation software you can freeze MIDI tracks that are routed to soft synths. Once frozen, the tracks are streamed and played back as audio files. This creates a more efficient workflow and saves valuable CPU processing power.

VSTi Parameter Automation
Increase your mixing flexibility by incorporating automation envelopes to control VST instruments in your ACID Pro 7 projects.

Drum Grid Mode
ACID Pro 7 Drum Grid Mode provides you with an easy and intuitive way to create and edit drum patterns directly on the timeline.

Drum and Patch Map Editors
Efficiently create or edit drum maps. Use templates to label patch and drum names for hardware or software-based MIDI synthesizers and drum machines. You can also save templates and share them with other ACID Pro 7 users.

Fundamentals
ACID Pro 7 software includes a powerful set of real time features for composing original songs. Its revolutionary and intuitive pick, paint, and play interface lets you focus on the immediacy of music creation. Using ACID Pro 7 software's unlimited number of audio/MIDI tracks and comprehensive editing environment, you'll find yourself immersed in a world with infinite creative possibilities.

Loops & SamplesOver 3,000 Loops and 1,000 MIDI files

Sound Series loops are ACIDized with pitch-shifting and time-stretching metadata for the smoothest possible performance. Get more free loops each month through the ACID Pro Get Media feature and at ACIDplanet.com. Further expand your media collection by purchasing titles from a vast collection of royalty-free sample libraries.

Pristine Audio Quality
ACID Pro 7 software employs the shortest possible path from your audio interface to your hard disk without floating-point conversions that can increase latency and dropout potential. Its optimized 24-bit, 192 kHz recording architecture includes dual and multicore processor support and dynamic playback optimization for maximum audio performance.

Dynamic Playback Optimization
Gain increased performance on single and multicore processor machines with audio track buffering. ACID Pro 7 software uses a separate processing thread to render audio from tracks. On multiprocessor or multicore computers, processing is distributed evenly across all CPUs to increase playback performance.

Powered by GracenoteGracenote MusicID CD Album Identification
ACID Pro 7 supports Gracenote MusicID, so you can view information about a CD track including, title, artist, and song name, and also submit data.

Integrated CD Burning
ACID Pro 7 software has integrated track-at-once and disc-at-once CD burning, so you can burn audio CDs of custom remixes and DJ-style tracks.

Get Media
One click on the Get Media from the Web icon on the ACID Pro software toolbar takes you to the Get Media download area, a member's only storehouse that contains a wide assortment of free and fresh content that can't be found anywhere else. Every month, enjoy instant access to folders full of great sounding royalty-free loops that you can use right away in all your projects. Get Media content adds significantly to the Sony Sound Series catalog by providing folders packed full of sounds that expand every library's potential. Get Media offers the deepest possible insights on exactly how the catalog can work for you, and this fine content is available only to registered ACID Pro software users.

Quantization Tools
ACID Pro 7 software features patent-pending Groove Mapping and Groove Cloning quantization technology. With these tools, you can significantly expand your loop collection by morphing existing loops into fresh sounds. Let's take a look at what Groove Mapping and Groove Cloning can do for you.

Change the Groove of a Track
It's easy to apply a groove to the tracks in your project. In the Window Docking area, click the Groove Pool tab. From the top section of the Groove Pool, drag the groove you want to use onto the desired track. Notice that a groove event is displayed along the bottom of the track. Increase the track height to see the groove name and zoom in to see a visual representation of the groove in the groove event. Drag a different groove onto the track to replace the current groove.

Applying Different Grooves to the Same Track
You can apply many different grooves to a single track to really build interest into your composition. Click the Groove Tool drop-down arrow in the main ACID Pro button bar and choose the desired groove. This also selects the Groove Tool. Drag the Groove tool across a small section of a track. Choose a different groove from the drop-down list and paint that groove across a different section of the track. A track can have as many different groove sections as you want.

Extracting a Groove from One File and Applying it to Another
If one of your tracks has a rhythmic feel (a groove) that you want to use on a different track, right-click the first track's track header and choose Add to the Groove Pool from the pop-up menu. Now, click the Groove Pool tab to bring it forward if it's not already visible and notice that a new groove (with the name of the file on the track from which you extracted it) appears in the Groove Pool. Use the methods outlined above to add this new groove to any other track in your project. The tracks now share the same groove.

Create Custom Grooves
Modify an existing groove and save the modified version as a new groove. In the Groove Pool, select one of the existing grooves and click the Duplicate Selected Grooves button. Adjust the blue Pre-Groove markers to change the groove, or create a brand-new, custom groove entirely from scratch. Click the New Groove button. Again, adjust the blue Pre-Groove markers.

Using Track Properties to Create New Grooves
Modify the track properties of an existing track and create a new groove based on those modifications. Right-click the track header for a track and choose Properties from the Shortcut menu. In the Track Properties dialog, click the Stretch tab and make adjustments to the various markers. Click the Play Quantized button to hear how your changes affect the rhythm of the file. Click the Play button to hear the file in its original rhythm. When you're happy with the changes you've made, click the Add to Groove Pool button. The new groove now appears in the Groove Pool.

Export Custom Grooves
After you've created a new groove, you might decide that it would work well in other projects too. You can export the groove so that you can use it in any project or share it with a partner. In the Groove Pool, select the groove you want to export from the list. Click the Export Selected Groove button. You can save the groove to any location on your computer drives that you want.

In the Groove Pool, select the groove you want to export from the list. Click the Export Selected Groove button. You can save the groove to any location on your computer drives that you want.

Media Manager
Use the Media Manager to tag, organize, and search your collection of loops so you can quickly find just the right media for your ACID Pro 7 compositions. The Media Manager maintains a database of your content, including file attributes, ACID metadata, and tags that you can assign to classify your media. Install the Media Reference Library to automatically tag existing Sony Sound Series loops and samples on your hard drive. Listed below are just some of the things you can do with this exciting technology.

Build Your Media Library Automatically
The Media Manager can scan your computer drives to automatically add files to your library. Click the Add Files to Media Library button. Specify each folder you want to scan, choose the type of media you want to add and click the Search button. The Media Manager searches the specified folders for media and adds anything it finds to the current library.

Preview and Add Media Directly from the Media Manager
Use the same techniques that you use in the Explorer window to preview files in your library. Select a file in the library, and click the Start Preview button to listen to the file even while your project plays so you can evaluate the media along with your composition. To end preview, click the Stop Preview button. Click the Auto Preview button so that preview starts automatically when you select a file. When you find the file you want, drag it directly from the Media Manager into your project timeline.

Refine Library Entries and Searches
To tailor your library to your exact needs, create custom tags and apply them to the media entries in your libraries. In the Search pane, click a tag that resides at the level at which you want to add the new tag. Click the Add Tag button. Change the name of the new tag to whatever will help you search most effectively. Now apply the tag to your library entries and search on it just as you would any of the default tags.

Create Extremely Targeted Searches with the Advanced Search Tools
In the Advanced section of the Search pane, you can customize your searches to be extremely targeted. Click the Add New Search Criteria button. In the Search Criteria Chooser, double-click each criterion on which you want to search. Adjust the parameter controls of the criteria to tailor your search. Select the check boxes for each criterion that you want to use.

Expand Your Media Search with Reference Libraries
Use the Sony Sound Series: Loops and Samples reference library to search the vast collections of media files available from the Sony Sound Series. From the ACID Pro installation disc, install the Sony Sound Series Library. Choose Options from the Media Library Actions drop-down list, and choose Sony Loops and Samples from the Reference Library drop-down. Click OK and click the Switch to Reference Library button. Select a file in the Search Results pane and click the Buy Now link in the Product Information pane to get more information, preview the file, and buy the associated loop collection.

Recall Your Search History
As you work through different searches in your library, you may want to return to a search you conducted earlier. Rather than trying to remember how to reconstruct a complex search, click the Previous Search button to scroll through your search history. Once you've scrolled back through your history this way, click the Next Search button to scroll through in the opposite direction.
